But today I got to finish all of my homework early and decided to catch up with the Internet, one of the few things I found was that Prada launched a video for their Fantasy lookbook (1st Picture for Reference) they launched for their Fall2010 Collection, and it is AMAZING!! Tomorrow I'll be doing a photo-shoot for a "campaign" I'm supposed to do as an assignment for school (Yay for cool homework), and I decided I wanted it to be a streetstyle, fresh, young campaign, so I called my friend Isaac (the boy with the yellow belt) and asked him if he wanted to be my model/assistant/cameraman/etc, he said Yes!! So I explained him what I wanted and together we came up with the final direction of the shoot, here's our art/inspiration board for tomorrow:

Called my 3 best friends to set up a date for us to catch up, after several hours of discussing where could we go, we ended up in a little cafe that can easily become our new "place" - funny thing about this, nobody asked for a coffee or anything related to it, hahaha silly me-. Anyway after 3 hours of non-stop chatting we called a day.

I'm pretty excited about this, because if you guys didn't know: The Killers is my number 1 band followed by Goldfrapp and KoL. Here are some pictures from my trip to the Big City, these are from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building.
That day was beyond me and my best friend + two of her friends decided we had to do something tourist-worthy on her last weekend in NYC, so we went to one of the main attractions of the city: The Empire City. In my previous trips to NYC I never had the chance to go up there, and oh boii what I was missing, the view of the city leaves you speechless (gaga moment) also we decided to go up around 5:30 - 6:00 that way we had 3 different moments up there: Daylight - Sunset - Night.

All Hearts Tour

So on my first day day in NYC, I had to literally run from the hotel to the Webster Hall for the All Hearts Tour featuring ROBYN!!! KELIS!! DAN BLACK!!! & Far East Movement (apparently they are huge among asian teengirls) anyway I didn't realize that the doors opened at 6:00 pm and not at 4:30 pm (as I had read online) so I got there really early and decided to stay there, to make the story short I ended up touching Robyn and in front row, the show was simply beyond, and by far the best I've ever been to.

Astounding cocoons made only of tape float in mid-air, capable supporting more than your average tree house.
Packing tape has gotten MacGyver out of many a jam, but he never managed to make an entire home out of the stuff. So he could probably learn something from Viennese/Croatian design collective For Use/Numen. The team uses nothing but packing tape to create huge, self-supporting cocoons that visitors could climb inside and explore.

Installed three times in the past year, the next deployment will be next week from June 9–13 at DMY Berlin's International Design Fair, which is now in its 8th year.
The installations, which look like the work of horrifyingly large arachnids, grew in scale and scope as the year progressed, first deployed inside a small Croatian gallery, then an abandoned attic during October’s Vienna Design Week.

At the last installation inside Odeon, a former stock exchange building in Vienna, the group used nearly 117,000 feet and 100 pounds of tape. “The installation is based on an idea for a dance performance in which the form evolves from the movement of the dancers between the pillars,” explains For Use’s Christoph Katzler. “The dancers are stretching the tape while they move, so the resulting shape is a recording of the choreography.”

The installation’s over-the-top theatricality comes easily to the collective, who design sets as well as furniture for the likes of Moroso and Element. In September, they’ll create a tape installation in a public space in the center of Frankfurt, and a five-star design hotel on the Croatian coast is forthcoming.

Lately I've been full of work from the art institute, one of them is creating a Lego Man out of PVC, in a bigger scale obviously, i dunno what would have been of myself if I had to do the 1:1 scale of it; When I first read the name of the Couture pictorial of the May 2010 issue of Elle US "Theory of Evolution", came to my mind an amazing idea: Share with you guys the process of creating Peter (Lego Man, which is somehow the evolution of itself) besides I'm also going to post the Olga Sherer pics, because I just every single one!!

Vogue Mexico/LA gone Good?

It's good to see that finally Vogue Latinoamerica/Mexico is getting nice covers with great models in this case one of my favorite models: Isabeli Fontana (Hot Momma from Brazil!).
Here in Caracas is almost impossible to get any other Vogue beside this one, so the fact that they are finally doing things right in the magazine it's just amazing.

Thought its sad that the 3D Feature of the pictorial inside is only for Mexico, but am I asking for too much? (NO, I am not! I want my 3D Isabeli Fontana Pictorial!)

This should be a word-less post because these pictures are so strong (at least for me) and Alber quotes are just perfect, that It just doesn't need anything else.

Today for our Photoshop Class the teacher told us to create a collage with the selection tools that he had just show'd us, using only the images in out pen drives, I only had 4 and well I ended up with this:

It's funny how I'm always carrying Jak & Jil's photos in my pen drive.
It has way too many details, but I'm happy with it, and I'm happy that I was the only one to create something like this instead of "shopping" my face into a Jersey Shore character, haha.

First I was a bit unsure about posting this because in the last few days I've been feeling like I only post pictorials and "new stuff", and well I felt that I needed to post different things, but then I thought: My blog it's not a place for everyone to look at the latest covers or pictorials, it's the place where I can put all these images that inspire me tru the days, weeks, and well every moment of my life. -me being crazy, it's the age don't worry about it-
I've finished almost all of my Balenciaga Timeline, I've been translating so many strange words these past few days, because as odd as it seems Cristóbal Balenciaga might be an Spanish designer but all the good information about him in books and online is either in english or in french, but I've had a lot of fun doing it, I'll take some pictures of it when it's printed.

Well now the center point of this post is that I fell in love with Natasha Poly's latest pictorial for Vogue París (I must say VP direction is very rough and Hot at the moment, and I'm loving it)
One of my favorite things of this photos, are the colors, they are so bright and perfect you almost feel heat of the sun in the photos by just watching them. Another amazing thing about these photos are the contrast in the pictures, in some the clothes almost blend in the background showing us the lack of contrast in them but them you have these other photos with bright blue and bright pink where the contrast with the background it's simply stunning.

So I'm back in school and for my Design History class I got this assignment where I have to create a timeline of a product/designer or pretty much whatever I want; the first name to pop into my head was: Balenciaga! So here I am doing a Cristóbal Balenciaga timeline.

So can somebody tell me HOW does Alber does it!? I always love his collection for Lanvin, always strong, always beautiful, feminine, sexy, chic, imagine all the good adjectives in the World, well they all fit in here. The hair and make-up for this show was specially amazing; all models wore a black wig with a Cleopatra cut in it, pale faces, and strong make-up in the eyes which you can barely see because of the wig bangs shadow on the models faces.

Everyone who follows this blog, knows that I live-breathe for Lara, ~~yes I'm that kind of boy (Girl)~~ who runs after the models in their between shows breaks, so today I came across an amazing interview of her by Marc Jacobs, for the March Issue of Interview Magazine (in which shes also the cover girl)

I'll post some highlights from the Interview and some of the photos, be sure to read the whole thing at interviews website.

Marc Jacobs: You know, I see a lot of girls. And when I started working, the big models were people like Naomi [Campbell] and Kate [Moss]. It was a time when there were models who had real personalities and individuality. I think you are probably the first one in a long time who is in that realm where you're becoming iconic in that way. How do you feel about that? Do you enjoy the fame and success that you're having?

Lara Stone: You know, I think it's great in any job to be doing well and doing it the best that you can, so that's pretty great. But I wouldn't call myself a celebrity in any way. I'm just doing my job. We were talking about it today, actually-that so many of the girls now, you don't really know any of them anymore. Me and Sasha [Pivovarova] were talking about it, about doing shows, and how we only know each other and a few other girls. Everyone gets replaced rather quickly.

Marc Jacobs: What about something you love?

Lara Stone: I love dressing up and putting on the makeup and the hair and the clothes and just being a different person for a day. Maybe it's just the idea that you can kind of hide behind it all in a way. . . . I don't know, but I like that. And I love the traveling, of course. Not the flying, but the actual traveling

Hello.
Well I just wanted to write a quick note to you guys, telling you about a few changes that are going to happen here, as you know this started as a personal blog, and now I see it as a place where I can talk about fashion and share with others my love for it.
Lately I've been feeling that A Color has become "one more fashion blog in the web" and I really don't want it that way, at least not for A Color, so I've decided to start new sections, to share with you guys my day-to-day in Design School, the "parties", the small meeting with my friends, the lazy Sundays with a hot chocolate in the city and very random things about my days here, but still sharing all the things I already do.

I think everybody here knows that I'm a fan of Lady GaGa, as usual I'm a bitch for pop culture icons, hahaha.
A few days ago GaGa debuted a new video for her single: Bad Romance, it was a surprise for everybody, how amazing the styling of the video was, she is wearing McQueen Spring Summer 2010 clothes 90% of the time, she even uses THE Shoes, doing a little research I found some amazing stuff, take a look at them:
* The Director of the video is Francis Lawrence, yes the same guy that have been doing all Britney's videos, but this puts him on an altar.
* "Fashion installations/video conceived by Haus of Gaga in collaboration with Alexander Mcqueen’s “Plato’s Atlantis.”. 11.10.09. Bad Romance", How amazing is that?

Have I ever mention that I love Garance Doré, well if not, Here it is:
I Love You Garance! How is it possible for a women to be so amazing, and at the same time be such a great artist and also having the most handsome blogger in the world aka Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist as Boyfriend, Garance is the living proof that all of the above is pretty much possible, and plus all of the above she also looks amazing every single time you see her on the streets or in her studio working.

To proove this I've found a piece by her for Vogue's Paris website, where she describes her Fashion Week experience alongside Carine Roitfeld (How Amazing is that?)
Check it out, and at the end I posted the English translation because God knows that my french is pretty much, well it isn't... hahaha

During september's fashion week, I have been lucky enough to spend some precious moments with Carine Roitfeld. Some fascinating moments. Follow me backstage at Vogue.
NEW-YORK: In NYC, Carine has really busy days. Fashion shows, showrooms, meetings, and a magazine to follow from a distance. It means spending a lot of time on the phone.
This morning, I'm going to pick up Carine at the Carlyle, her favourite hotel in NYC. "It's my New-York. Woody Allen plays here every monday evenings. You should come!"
10a.m: First fashion show, next to Anastasia Barbieri, who collaborates regularly with VP.
"I'm always excited by new things, like A.Wang or Julian Louie. It gives me energy.
And there are my assistants, who keep me in the mood because they go out, they tell me about what they see, they wear young designers...They keep us awake or we'd get bored and our magazine would get old. But it seems that it's not going to happen: during Fashion Night Out, our readers were in the streets and I could see that they were very young and very nice".
2p.m: At A.Wang's showroom. Carine told me she loves his energy. And his accessories!
"I started in the standing part and made my way to the front row."
"I used to drive to go to the fashion shows but now I have a chauffeur. I have to admit I made progress!"
3p.m: Donna Karan fashion show. Carine always takes time for her fans. And when you see how much they are, it's a LOT of time.
"I'm a decision-maker but I ask a lot to people what their opinion is."
"Being photographed puts a lot of pressure on one's shoulders. I restrain myself a lot because even if it doesn't look like it, I'm very shy. But at the same time, the day they stop photographing me will mean that I'm not a good editor-in-chief anymore. I will be very sad this day."
"You have to go to the parties. That's where things happen."
At night, at Marc Jacobs. Before greeting Marc, Carine meets Julia von Boehm, Giovanna Battaglia and Olivier Zahm.
After a stop over at Milan, where I found Carine allowing herself to take a sunbath between two shows (she looooves the sun) , let's go back to Paris.
Inauguration of the Vogue Covers exhibition.
"During fashion weeks, you're always inspired at least once a day. It can be a show, a meeting, a new girl, a makeup, something that will make you think. There is a lot of inspiration in the shows. You have to be open-minded et take a look at everything."
The César's story: "That's a César, a jewels reduction. Unfortunately, not of my family jewels, I've never met him. I got it as a gift a couple of years ago, I love it and it fascinates everyone."
"I got three awards: the best-dressed list by Vanity Fair, the Amfar for charity, and last year I was in Time's 100 powerful people alongside Obama etc. I was the only French... The good thing is that it's a french "radiance" in foreign countries."

I agree that is not a traditional cover shot, but that is what makes it more the compelling and interesting to look at. Linda looks like a mannequin, a mannequin who can give LOTS of emotion. My eyes go directly to her eyes and expression and never really leave. She looks so sad and distraught. Her eyes say a thousand words, in addition to the words she is holding in her hands. Also, looking more at the image, the business man behind her and the security guard next to her become more and more evident. They are just as much a part of the image as Linda is, because in the real world, everyone counts. It is such a cerebral, intellectual image, more art than fashion, definitely, and EXTREMELY provocative to put on a cover of a magazine. I really admire and appreciate the balls the people at W have. I commend them for not resorting to what has become the quintessential fashion magazine cover: the cookie-cutter sexy pouty model in an instantly identifiable designer piece glaring out at you. This is so much more beautiful and thought-provoking. And that is why I love it.

Alex's Playground aka The Runway (Still from WWD)

I'm barely breathing as I write this, I've just ended watching the stream from THE Spring Summer 2010 Collection of Alexander McQueen, and I'm as usual Speechless, the whole concept of the show was incredibly amazing. I was expecting for this show since their last Fall 09 collection show that was also amazing, but this was superb, there was a moment in the beginning of the show that I doubted if I had the feeling of being underwater, THAT amazing was the show, the models were supposed to be mermaids of Atlantis (IMO), the shoes, If you can walk on those shoes, you're my new hero, they were a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!!!

Between Lee (Alex) and Alber I'm not sure who is my favorite designer, but I'm sure they are both on the top of my list!

For their 40Th Anniversary Issue Interview magazine got Kristen Stewart on the cover shot by Craig McDean and the result is just Mind Blowing!!! I love the cover so much, that I'm going to find the way of owning this issue (it's hard to get foreign mags here Latin America).

In my opinion Kristen is Super beautiful and shes got the look of a tiger! (this got nothing to do with the fact that I love the twilight books, yes and I admit it, I love her since Into the Wild, God I love that movie, and the soundtrack)

London Spring Summer 2010 (super fast) Review

God knows I love Christopher, and this collection was simply Beautiful! I LOVED the cuts, the shapes, the fabrics, the colors, the Super young models, the front row including Emma Watson, Mary Kate, Mario Testino, Alexa Chung and Gwyneth among others.

Ok this collection was so weird, I LOVED THE SHAPES and Fabrics, but the colors were like WHAT?, but well, you be the judge on this one:

THOSE NECKLACES!!! No doubt at all, this is an excellent collection, the colors, the dresses, the accessories, the suits, THE COLORS! (again). I love how this looks like something done by Dries Van Noten but somehow different, and if you are compared to DVN you're doing it RIGHT!

Ok Matthew knows that I got a fixation with triangles, and did them (again) exclusively for me, RIGHT, hahahaha, this was a great collection, he surely knows how to please me :D I loved the swimsuits from this collection

It's a ... Rush

London fashion week is already here, and here I am posting my last post on this season New York Fashion Week (blame the institute, haha), so a quick round-up:

Erin Fetherston, was, well it just WAS, I fell in love with the accesories, and how simple but yet so fashionable the collection was, LOVED the color palette, couldn't stop thinking about L as I watched the collection.

Proenza Schouler, last season was a bit bad in matters of design for them, but I can say they are back, full of lovely short dresses, and super cool shoes, and let me tell you, those shoes are among the Kirkwoods for Rodarte my favorites this season. Plus the collection got something fresh on it, it must be that primitive vibe that I'm loving.

Vera Wang, I personally loved Vera's colelction but it so obvious her "inspiration" its just too much Chanel/Balmain/Givenchy , but hey at least it turned out good. The models looked sooo good, kudos to the beauty department here.

And to end NYFW, here it is: Calvin Klein by Francisco Costa
This collection was so so so so good in way too many levels, loved from the colors to the shapes, oh god THOSE shapes, the fabrics were gorgeous too, thank you very much Mr. Costa (The only thing I didn't like were the Shoes, Francisco really?)
